Technical equipment

The technical equipment of the institute is highly specialized for the research on sugar beet in field trials, green houses and different laboratories:

Experimental fields:

• approximately 20 ha on farms close to Goettingen
• long term trials (4-10 years): 10 ha

Field trial equipment:

• sensory equipment for recording climate data and soil properties
• special machinery for sowing, maintainance and harvesting of sugar beet field trials

Controlled plant growth:

• 4 greenhouses
• 2 growth cabinets

Plant preparation equipment:

• beet washer
• frozen brei / dried brei
• beet top preparation
• root washing apparatus
• quantification of soil tare 

Analytical equipment:

• phytopathological, molecular biological, chemical and soil physical laboratory
• quality analysis of sugar beet
