The Institute of Sugar Beet Research (IfZ) has been located in Holtenser Landstraße in Göttingen since 1953.
The "Institut für Zuckerrübenforschung gGmbH" is an affiliated institute of the Georg-August University of Göttingen. The sole shareholder of the gGmbH is the "Verein der Zuckerindustrie e.V.".
The IfZ is committed to the good scientific practice of the university. It works closely with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in teaching and research. The entire infrastructure and administration of the IfZ are self-sufficient. Head of the IfZ with its seven departments is Prof. Dr. Anne-Katrin Mahlein.
