The workgroup Technical Services maintains part of the technical infrastructure at IfZ. That means service and maintennance of the centrallly used buildings and trial equipment as well as supporting the departments in the setup, cultivation and harvest of the field and greenhouse trials. Every department has its own staff of technical employees taking care of their trials.

Technical facilities:

• 18 hectares of trial fields, 5 ha of it being permanent trial
• specially designed machinery for seeding, cultivation and harvest
• sensor technology for for soil and climate dates
• Greenhouse: vegetation period for up to 200 days
• climate chambers and plant growth chambers
• analysis technology for the processing of plants
• phytopathological, molecular biological, chemical and soil physics labs
